Long Beach Island Surprise Proposal | Beach Haven NJ

I have so many words and emotions for this session!! I was already excited to see Gianna and Mike again after photographing their beach maternity session here in Long Beach Island last summer and couldn’t wait to meet their little girl, who is already 9 months old!

I had NO idea I would be photographing a proposal until I got there and Gianna’s mom whispered to me between shots that he was about to propose. Talk about pressure- I couldn’t miss this moment and had to do it justice in just a few seconds!! I have never done a surprise proposal, engagement or wedding photography- so I hoped I did this moment justice for them.

So after we did some family shots by the dunes, we went down to the water to get some more shots. Mike handed Lia off to a family member and then went back to get “just a few shots of mom and dad”- I do this at every session anyway so nothing suspicious there 😉 There were some teenagers near us playing music on their speakers, and one of Gianna & Mike’s relatives got them to switch the song to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” as Mike got on one knee and proposed to the love of his life.

I was so happy to catch all of Gianna’s reactions- I wish more than anything I had photos like these from when my husband and I were engaged!!

I wish them all the best as they plan their wedding up in New York and can’t wait to photograph their family and capture more precious moments for summers to come!
